On Sunday 23 Aug, Hurricane Marco and Tropical Storm Laura passed through the Caribbean and led to the death of nine people dead in Haiti and another three in the Dominican Republic.
In Port-au-Prince, Haiti, videos on social media showed people wading waist-deep in muddy water struggling to walk in the flood.
Haiti was the first country to report a death due to Storm Laura as a 10-year-old girl was killed when a tree fell on her home in the southern town of Anse-a-Pitres.
Heavy rainfall was recorded in Cuba and the US territory of Puerto Rico.
Marco is expected to hit Louisiana on Monday, with Laura hitting Texas by Thursday.
The US National Hurricane Center (NHC) announced that Laura is expected to strengthen into a hurricane by early Tuesday.
In total, 200 homes were damaged in the Dominican Republic and 1,000 people were evacuated.
